We’ll be continuing to improve the site over the coming months, including adding new case studies and new features. We hope you like it.

Vega lights up famous Italian lighthouse

The famous Volta lighthouse is now shining brighter after the installation of a Vega VRB-25-LED rotating beacon.

The Como Rotary Club embarked on a project to renew the Volta lighthouse when on the 200th anniversary of the invention of the battery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, nominated Como as a landmark of modern technology.

The lighthouse is on the top of the mountain overlooking Lake Como in the community of Brunate, northern Italy. Opened in 1927, it was one of the tributes to  Alessandro Volta who was the inventor of the battery and after whom volt wasnamed. Alessandro Volta was one of Como’s most famous citizens.

The light is primarily a tourist attraction.  It shines a representation of the Italian flag on the observer.  This landmark light house is our first VRB-25 installation with an LED based optical assembly. The new light began operating on 1 June.

Here is a quote from the article which is in Chinese.  “Shanghai AtoN bureau purchased two VRB-25-LED beacons. The beacon uses the latest technology and is very easy to operate and install.  The beacon uses remote control to configure custom settings including changing operating voltage, beacon flash, luminous intensity and other parameters, previously beacons often had to be taken apart to make changes. This saves a lot of time and improves efficiency.” View the full article (in Chinese) and see the photos
